About
Art came as a train that I once boarded unknowingly. I've been a passenger ever since, riding through dense woods, wide plains, frigid snow, gentle rains, starry skies, thatched huts,
traffic lights, high rises,
shiny windows,
glass balloons,
dry leaves,
sea salt,
plastic maracas,
worn-out shoes, talcum powder,
guitar strings, chicken lollipops, wooden beads, messy penmanship, tail wags, soft lullabies, ghost stories, grapefruit juice, dusty bookshelves,
cardboard boxes,
berry perfume,
sleeping bags,
kadak chai.
Shampoodleshams is simply a log of my journey.
Artist Bio
Hi! My name is Shambhavi, and I'm currently based in Mumbai. I paint my wonderment for the world around me: the way that light softens on a flower petal, the unassuming beauty of a garlic bulb, the astonishing textures held in a basic kitchen sink. My mission is to help others slow down and notice these simple yet remarkable miracles as they are limitless and beautiful.
When I paint, I like to be entirely immersed in my subject's details. I find that I get energized by the meticulous technical effort needed to bring these details to life. So I work on complex, often delicate, subjects in a deliberate and unhurried way, which deepens my love for my practice. I hope viewers may also take their time unraveling my works, experiencing every layer and element painted! In this way, I aspire to make our world more beautiful to look at.
While painting is my "main" profession, filling my sketchbooks with ink doodles and creative writing helps me find tons of new inspiration. These usually explore other topics that interest me, like dreams, mathematics, music, and mythology.
