Nothing I Want More Than

There is nothing I want more than dawn when the world’s asleep. A shower and clean socks and plump covers just for me. An art book so thick it’s never going to fill. A song so drunk, so forgettable, so deep. A long weekend that’s free of itineraries. A meal I got right from a hodgepodge recipe. A summer so fresh and joyous with glee. A longstanding task that’s about to be complete. A road trip with friends when it’s dark and rainy. A book I roll in bed with too obsessively. A dream I can’t remember but makes me feel hot things. A balcony that stares out at a city scenery. Takeout with cola and mystery on TV. A place with mountains, wooden cottages and trees. A board game my family will play endlessly. A conversation that inspires mad possibilities. A hug I know I desperately need. A smell so beautiful I’m disarmed for a week. A lesson that in the present is the best place to be.
